Research Agent
Reads, compares and summarises — your numbers, your market, your suppliers — on a schedule.

What it does
- Analyses your own data — sales, jobs, quotes — and tells you what changed, in sentences not spreadsheets
- Market comparatives: what competitors charge, how your prices sit against them
- Supplier and quote comparisons — the Monday-morning price check, done before you're in
- Watches what matters: a competitor's new service, a price move, planning applications, tenders
- A weekly brief in plain English, short enough to actually read
What that looks like
A builder's merchant price-check, every Monday 7am: your top forty lines compared across three suppliers, the five biggest moves flagged, one paragraph on what to do about it.
The three parts, for this one
Every agent is an idea, plus your context, plus your process. Here is how that reads for the research agent.
- The idea
- “I'd make better decisions if someone kept an eye on the numbers — I never get the time.”
- Your context
- Where your numbers live (accounts package, spreadsheets, till), who your competitors are, what a good week looks like.
- Your process
- The checks you'd do if you had a spare hour: what you'd compare, what would worry you, what you'd act on.
- The outcome
- Decisions made on this week's numbers, not a feeling. Price moves caught early. An hour of reading turned into two minutes.
What it needs from you
Read access to wherever your numbers already live — we never need to move them — plus one conversation about what you'd check if you had the time. Setup takes about a week.
How it's run
- Scheduled briefs to your inbox — weekly by default, daily if the trade needs it
- Sources and calculations shown, so you can check its working
- Scope tuned monthly as your questions change
- Cancellable with a month's notice
What it costs
£950 +VAT setup, then from £300 +VAT a month
Price scales with how many sources it watches, fixed in your proposal.
There is no buy button here on purpose. What it costs depends on what it has to do, and we would rather find that out than guess: the free audit first, then a short written proposal with a fixed figure, then an invoice if you are happy with it.
Questions people ask about the research agent
- Does my data leave my systems?
- It's read, analysed and summarised — never sold, never used to train anything, and covered by a data-processing agreement before we start.
- What if the analysis is wrong?
- Every brief shows its sources and working. If something looks off you can see exactly why in one click — and we tune it in the monthly review.

Ten minutes on the phone, a written summary by email, and a straight answer — including “not yet”, if that is the honest one.
