What a Free AI Audit Actually Covers — a UK Small Business Guide

1 August 2026 · JourneyForce

Search for "free AI audit" and you'll find everything from five-minute web quizzes to thirty-minute sales calls wearing an audit's clothing. Some are genuinely useful. Some exist to book you into a pitch. This guide explains what a good free audit covers, what to watch for, and how ours works.

What a good free AI audit should cover

Whatever the format, a worthwhile audit asks about your business before it mentions any technology:

How work actually flows. What you use day to day — spreadsheets, paper, accounting software, a booking system — and where the admin hours genuinely go each week. Not where a vendor assumes they go.

The repetitive core. The work that gets done the same way every single week. That's where automation and AI earn their keep; novelty tasks rarely do.

What slips through the cracks. Missed calls, forgotten follow-ups, quotes that never went out. For most small businesses this is worth more than any efficiency gain.

An honest verdict. Sometimes the right answer is that AI won't meaningfully help yet. An audit that never says this isn't an audit.

What to be wary of

  • Instant-score quizzes that produce a percentage without ever learning what your business does. A score isn't a plan.
  • Audits that end in a hard sell. The output of a good audit is a document you keep, useful whether or not you spend another penny with the auditor.
  • "Unlimited AI transformation" language. Anyone promising unlimited anything hasn't costed their own service.

How the JourneyForce free audit works

Ours is a ten-minute voice conversation with Alice, our AI guide — you talk, she asks structured questions about how your business runs. It's the same discovery a consultant would do, delivered as a phone-style call from our website, and it's the only AI-voice-led audit we know of in the UK.

Three things to know before you start:

  1. Alice tells you she's an AI in her first sentence. No pretending.
  2. She gathers; she doesn't advise on the call. The thinking arrives afterwards as a written summary — a person at JourneyForce reads it before it goes out.
  3. The summary is yours to keep, with no obligation. It covers what was discussed and, where there's a genuine opportunity, what we'd suggest next. Where there isn't one, it says so.

If something in the summary is worth doing, our paid options start small: a Getting Started with Claude session at £395 +VAT for the whole team, up to a managed AI in a Box service. Every price is published, and every service has stated usage allowances — nothing we sell is "unlimited", because nothing genuinely is.

Start the free audit — ten minutes, a written map, no obligation.
